Having delighted Palm Creek Folk Festival audiences in 2011 and 2012, Nick and Liesl return to Townsville for a more intimate show at the Townsville Folk Club on Thursday 2 May.
It's been a busy time for the popular independent duo. Not only have they recorded a new 'taster' EP 'Friend and Lover', their music is about to get spotlighted on the world stage with their previous album 'Feather' being used as the soundtrack to a new musical of the same name being played in New York in July. They have also toured extensively including their fifth European tour and playing major festivals here in Australia.
'Friend and Lover' captures the essence of Nick and Liesl’s sound - beautiful vocals and superbly blended harmonies - and reflects on themes of love, loneliness and life split between two continents. We even get a taste of the duo’s European influences with the inclusion of a French song by Carla Bruni.
Nick and Liesl met on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia in 2005. At the time, they had both stepped away from their 'regular' careers in order to pursue the musical dream. Two years on the couple turned duo and they have not looked back since. Australia, Germany, the UK, France, Belgium, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark and Czech Republic have all been on the tour schedule as well as 60+ festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, the National Folk Festival, Peats Ridge, Caloundra Music Festival, Festival of The Sun, Reeperbahn Festival (Germany) and many more. They have done countless live performances on the likes of ABC Qld Statewide, Perth, Canberra, Brisbane, and Adelaide and received support from personalities like Richard Glover on 702 Sydney. Their music videos are airing regularly on Australian/NZ music video TV show Rage and they performed live to 80,000 viewers on French TV on their last European tour whilst also receiving commercial radio airplay in France and Belgium. They’ve performed on BBC radio in the UK and supported artists such as The Jezabels, Kate Miller-Heidke, Ian Moss, Daryl Braithwaite, Shane Nicholson, Harry Manx and Mark Seymour.
Nick and Liesl play the Townsville Folk Club at Bellevue Hotel on Thursday 2 May - tickets at the door $10 members/$15 non-members.

Thursday night at Folk Club will be a ripper!
Fraser and Katie from The Wee Johnny's and Patrick Levi might pop his head in! Plus the usual open mic. Music from 8pm. Great food and drinks before then all at the Bellevue Hotel South Townsville.
