Hi delicate and caring readers It’s time to say Happy New year to the good ship folk acoustic club and all who sail in her (note sexism involving ships…..it’s a complex world.) You will be pleased to hear that I have not broken my new year’s resolutions owing to my noted strength of character and the fact that I forgot to make any. The good news is that the tribe will reassemble this Thursday the 21st January at the usual Bellevue venue where everyone can swap war- holiday stories involving acts of bravery in the Woodford Guinness tent, fighting off parking wardens in Port Douglas,--- or like us, going, oh ah ah ow,look ---- watching the fireworks with a thousand tourists and a flat concrete bum on the shores of Darling Harbour. (Lenni’s character building resolution was strengthened via a Boxing Day holiday picnic held at Myers in the centre of Sydney) Anyhow it will be good to get back to music this Thursday and remember the club motto is to play music and have a good time, we could do with that in Latin---Playus musicus bonnatto tempus (Any Latin scholars out there-please help ---------send suggestion via Julius, famous for his crunchy salads) Whilst we were all sleeping ,hiding, feasting and contemplating our inner bits,--- the festival programme selection committee has been beavering away and many thanks are already due to this noble band—both Glenda and her band of merry persons (note unsexist language) are anxious and determined to get this aspect settled early this year, and together with the secretary are appealing (well they are nice to look at ) for you to apply early via the website—so don’t miss out-- time for action. So see you all Thursday bring your new Christmas plectrums to show Santa did not forget. Must away ,the fairies are calling. Roger |
